A.The study compared the temperamental attributes of prisoners with non-prisons to determine particular temperamental areas where prisoners excelled as well as the least possessed by them compared with the non-prisoners. One hundred inmates of Agodi prison as well as One hundred non prisoners in Ibadan participated in the study. The main instrument used for the study was a structured temperamental questionnaire adapted from Honk (2004), t-test statistic was used to analyze the four tested hypotheses. The results revealed that no Significant difference existed between prisoners and non-prisoners on temperamental attributes; however, the mere fact prisoners excelled on choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic temperaments based on means and SD results calls for attention, and recommendation were made towards conscious remediation of temperamental excessesItem Differential effectiveness of two creativity techniques in enhancing creativity motivation of some Nigerian adolescent prisoners(Department of Guidance and Counselling, University of Ibadan, 2002-06) Animasahun, R. A.This study investigated the differential effectiveness' of Six Thinking Hats and Akinboye's Prqctical Creativity At Work (APCAW) techniques in enhancing the creativity of some Nigerian adolescent prisoners. The study sample was 135 convicted adolescent prisoners whose ages ranged from 18-21 with a mean of 19.5 randomly selected from Agodi Prison, Ibadan, Oyo State and Ilesa Prison, Osun State. The subjects were randomly assigned to the two intervention conditions and control group. The treatment lasted for six weeks of twelve sessions. A 3 x 3 experimental design was adopted. The validated instruments namely: the Creativity Motivation Scale in lbadan Creativity Assessment Scale (ICAS) and Self Concept Scale in the Adolescent Personal Data Inventory (APDI) were used. The results indicated that subjects exposed to treatments performed significantly better than the control group on measure of creativity motivation of the subjects. On differential effectiveness basis, however, APCAW technique took the lead. On the basis of the finding, it was suggested that Nigerian Prisoners should undergo training in creativity so as to be adequately equipped to cope with life after incarcerationItem Effectiveness of emotional intelligence education in enhancing positive life skills of Nigeria prison inmates(Faculty of Education, University of lbadan. Ibadan, 2007) Animasahun, R. A.The study investigated the effectiveness of Emotional Intelligence education in enhancing positive life skills of some Nigerian prison inmates. Ninety-one (91) prisoners from Agodi prisons, Ibadan, Oyo State and Ilesa, Osun State whose ages ranged between 18-21 years with a mean of 19.5 were randomly assigned to the intervention condition and the control group. The training lasted for six weeks of 12 sessions. A pre-test, post-test control group design using a 2x3 factorial was adopted. The participants responded to sections A (self concept scale) of Akinboye's Adolescent Personal Data Inventory and Akinboye's Emotional Intelligence test, both at the pre and post intervention sessions. The result indicated that the intervention group performed significantly better than the control group on Akinboye's Emotional Intelligence Test {(1,85) = 182.08 P < 0.05}. On the basis of the findings, it was suggested that Nigerian prisoners should be exposed to Emotional Intelligence education which has been found to be effective. Through this training, it is believed that their positive life skills could be stimulated, enhanced and fully developed to make them better and responsible citizens useful to themselves and the society after incarcerationItem Emotional intelligence in the work place(2017-03) Animasahun, R. A.; Oladeni, O.O.This study was conducted to find out how emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills predict marital stability among married couples. The sample for this study consists of two hundred and fifty (250) marriage couples (males and females) in Lagos. The research instrument used was a validated questionnaire to measure the independent and dependent variables of the study. Four (4) hypotheses were tested, at 0.05 level of significance using Pearson correlation analysis and i-test statistics. The findings revealed that emotional intelligence had significant relationship with marital stability (r = .537, P<.0.05). There is significant relationship between conflict resolution skills and marital stability (r = .562 P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the conflict resolution skills of married males and their female counterparts (t = 1.106, P>0.05). Based on these findings, government should spearhead organization of seminars for married couples. Potential couples and married couples should also be exposed to emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills' trainingItem Employing creativity skills in the delivery of academic content: focus on effective teaching and evaluation for sustainable development in the third world nations(2014-05) Animasahun, R. A.It has been observed that students' attitude to academic work has declined in recent time and consequently, mass failure in public examinations has been on the increase. The problem has been attributed to various reasons, of which the delivery of academic content to students is the most prominent. It is therefore imperative that more modern teaching strategies be adopted for the delivery of academic content. This study, therefore, examined the current trend in teaching and learning which is still filled with a lot of lapses and advocated for the employment of creativity skills which involves a lot of activities rather than passivity in the delivery of academic content in the nation's secondary schools. The concept and application of creativity to teaching and learning process were exemplified, and highlighted. The fact that the whole process would be incomplete without the teacher's continuous personal evaluation of his own teaching for effectiveness was also stressed. It was recommended that this process should be advocated for global practice for effective delivery of academic content by all teachers which should be the tenet of the emerging trends in Learning, Education and Teaching for sustainable development and Human capacity building in the third world nationsItem Fostering life skills of Nigerian university undergraduates using creativity and entrepreneurship trainings(University Trust Publishers, Nsukka, 2012) Animasahun, R. A.This study focused on fostering life skills of Nigerian University undergraduates, using Creativity and Entrepreneurship trainings towards remediation of graduate unemployment. A pretest-posttest control group quasi experimental design using a 3x3 factorial matrix was adopted. The experimental (Creativity and Entrepreneurship training groups) and the Control formed the rows while levels of study (200,300,400) formed the columns. A total of 180 university undergraduates were randomly selected on the basis of natural cluster, availability and convenience, from 3 randomly selected Federal Universities. Sixty (60) students were randomly selected from each University with 20 from each of 200, 300 and 400 levels. They were randomly assigned to the 2 experimental and control groups. Olawale's (2006) Life Skills Assessment Scale (LSAS) was administered on the participants both at the pre and post-test situations. The result revealed that the experimental group performed significantly better than the control on Life skills assessment ratings. It was therefore recommended that creativity and entrepreneurship trainings should be properly integrated into Nigerian undergraduates' curriculum and made compulsory so as to proactively reduce the menace of graduate unemployment in NigeriaItem Goal setting, time planning and management as life prerequisites for success the perspective of a counsellor(His Lineage Publishing House, Ibadan, 2016) Animasahun, R. A.Item Influence of marital discord, separation and divorce on poor academic performance of undergraduate students of University of Ibadan(Nigerian School Health Association, 2011) Animasahun, R. A.The study investigated the influence of marital discord, parental separation and divorce on the academic performance of undergraduate students of the University of Ibadan. A total of 400 students were randomly selected from 8 Faculties on the basis of convenience and availability. All participants' present Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) stands at 2.5 and below, which is a clear manifestation of poor academic performance. The participants responded to a validated questionnaire on parental marital discord, separation and divorce. Four research hypotheses were generated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that significant difference exists between the academic performance of students from undisrupted homes and their counterparts from disrupted homes, t (398) =5.824, P < 0.05. The mean of the academic performance of students from undisrupted homes (56. 18) is taken to be better than the mean for those from disrupted homes( 52.93). Also, significant relationship exists between academic performance and parental marital discord (r = -0.109), academic performance and parental separation (r =-0.198), and finally, academic performance and parental divorce (r = -6.226). It was therefore recommended that married individuals should endeavour to stay together for the sake of their children academic pursuits. Couples should be trained in acquisition of marital conflicts skills. Openness to each other, forgiveness, understanding and ability for couples to clothe themselves with love are all recommendedItem Intelligent quotient, emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence as correlates of prison adjustment among inmates in Nigeria prisons(Kamla-RaJ, Delhi, 2010-02) Animasahun, R. A.The study investigated the extent to which intelligent quotient, emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence would jointly and relatively predict prison-adjustment among Nigerian prisoners. The participants were five hundred prisoners randomly selected from five prisons in Nigeria. They are made up of four hundred and fifty eight males and forty-two females. The study utilized expost facto correlational research design. Multiple regression analysis and pearson product moment correlation were was used to analyse data collected to test the three research questions raised in the study. The results showed significant positive correlations between the independent variables and prison adjustment with emotional intelligence taking the lead (r = 0.95), followed by spiritual intelligence (r = 0.83) and lastly, intelligent quotient (r = 0.79). Also, the three independent variables contributed a total of 93.2% to the criterion (Prison Adjustment), while relative contributions as revealed by the Beta results showed Emotional Intelligence (B = 0.736), Spiritual Intelligence (B = 0.443) and Intelligent Quotients (B = 0.173). On the basis of the findings, it was recommended that prisoners should be exposed to emotional intelligence training as well as regular, functional religious programmes to enhance their effective adjustment. It was therefore concluded that emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence skills are far more important than intelligent quotient. Therefore instead of placing more emphasis on being brilliant, let students and people who demonstrate high level of emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence be properly encouragedItem Knowledge economy and security: The Nigerian situation(Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP),Abuja, 2015) Animasahun, R. A.Item Measured effect of emotional intelligence education in the remediation of aggressive behaviours among members of the NURTW in Ibadan metropolis(Ife Centre for Psychological Studies, Ile Ife, 2007-03) Animasahun, R. A.The study investigated the effects of Emotional Intelligence education in the remediation of aggressive behaviours among the members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ibadan metropolis. Eighty-nine (89) member of the NURTW who were randomly selected from Gate, Molete and Iwo Road motor parks in Ibadan whose ages ranged between 17-65 years with a mean of 41 were randomly assigned to the intervention condition and the control group. The training lasted for six weeks of 12 sessions. A pre-test post-test control group design using a 2x3 factorial matrix was utilized. The participants responded to an Aggression Questionnaire by Buss and Perry (1992) at the pre and post intervention sessions. The result indicated that the intervention group had their aggressive behaviour tendencies greatly reduced compared with the control group. [(1,83) = 121.83 P<.001], an indication of a significant difference between the experimental and the control group. On the basis of the findings, it was suggested that members of the NURTW should be trained in emotional intelligence skills which could successfully reduce, remediate and alleviate their aggressive behaviours. This would lead to an enhanced relationship between the members of NURTW and the passengers, an enhanced intra and interpersonal relationship among members of the union, reduced rate of recklessness and avoidance of bloody clashes among rival groups of the unionItem Psycho-social factors influencing the psychological wellbeing of retirees in Ibadan(2017) Animasahun, R. A.Retirement is an inevitable event in the lives of an individual. All government workers must retire at one time or the other in their working lives. Unfortunately, the thought of retirement to some workers breeds anxiety, apprehension and disillusionment whereas attitude towards retirement needs not be this negative. Effort is made in this study to address this recurring and debilitating problem. This study therefore examined pre-retirement activities/planning, money saved investment, family support, religious factor, social responsibilities, and good health as determinants of psychological well-being among retirees in lbadan. The objectives of the study were to examine the composite and relative effects of those psychosocial variables on psychological well-being of retirees, and to draw inferences from the findings for future use. Using descriptive research design, two hundred (200) participants were selected using convenience sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was used to elicit information from the respondents and data obtained were analyzed using t-test, Pearson and multiple regressions to determine the correlation between independent variables and psychological well-being of the participants. Thus, two research questions were asked and answered. The results indicated that there was a positive and significant relationship between money saved, investment, family support, religious factor, social responsibilities and psychological well-being of the participants in this study. The result further revealed that all the six factors jointly predicted psychological adjustment to retirement (R value = 0.676) and Adjusted R square value of (0.416) 41.6% was reported. Also, an F-ratio (6.191) = 9.171, P<0.001) was obtained. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended that retired workers should learn and develop coping strategies based on pre-retirement activities/planning, money saved investment, family support, religious factor, social responsibilities and good health method for improving their views about retirement. They may begin to embrace the process of retirement early in their work life. Those who are close to retirement age should be taken through programmes that will help them to manage their anxiety about their future well-beingItem Psychosocial predictors of adolescents' violence in Ibadan metropolis, Oyo State, Nigeria(2011-05) Animasahun, R.
