    Ethical considerations in teacher-student relationship

    Teacher-learner interaction is the core activity in educational practice. It therefore needs to focus both on promoting knowledge acquisition and positive moral disposition. Ethics, which generally focuses on moral judgment and social values, is very important in human relationship and essential in the intellectual and moral development of learners far their social transformation in order to develop the society. This study examined ethics and social values in relation to the ethical theories/principles of Immanuel Kant and his categorical imperatives, utilitarianism as well as existential- ism and how they can be used to influence the teacher-learner interactions to promote right moral actions and attitudes in order to achieve the purpose of education in the society. The study asserted that ethical values and education are mutually interdependent thus, better social behaviour is expected from educated persons. The knowledge acquired from our educational institutions should make learners live right and harmoniously with others in the society
