Item An enterpreneural characterisation of the supply chain system of automobile battery in Ibadan southwest Nigeria.(2011) Oladokun, V. O; Oladiran, P. O.Problems such as the importation of substandard auto batteries are some of the challenges confronting the supply of the product in Nigeria. In this work some aspects of the supply chain system of the automobile batteries have been studied in Oyo state, Nigeria. The automobile battery supply chain system has been segmented into three: suppliers, users and the repairers for analysis. Using direct observation, questionnaires relevant data on each of these three segments were collected and analysed based on typical 12 Volts automobile battery. Data obtained from the vehicle licensing office was used to illustrate and analyse the entrepreneurship opportunities of the automobile battery market in Nigeria. The study reveals a huge market in the supply system of the auto battery in Nigeria. Also provide a template applicable to the analysis of other engineering products.Item A framework for an in-house development of educational management information system.(The Nigerian Institution of Engineering Management, 2012) Oladokun, V. O; Arawo, C. C"A large percentage of Nigerian educational institutions use manual and paperbased system for collecting, processing, and disseminating information. This approach results in inefficient utilization of resources, low productivity and stunted growth of the educational sector. In this study the in-house users-development approach has been used to develop a computer based Educational Information Management System (ElMS) for a typical University academic department. The existing work system and the underlying Information flow pattern in a department were critically studied. The associated information needs were identified and analyzed. A broad review of the literature on Information Technology (IT) solutions were carried out to identify possible solutions frame work. Graphical User Interface (GUI) software embedded in Relational Database Management System (RDBMS), Microsoft Access was developed using Visual Basic Net. The software was deployed and tested using data from the department of Industrial Engineering, University of Ibadan. The GUI, compatible with the regular Windows environment, was shown to be user friendly. The capability of the EIS compares very well with the imported EIS systems. "Item Optimization of single-source multi-products multi destination supply chain system.(2011) Oladokun, V. O; Okwu, M. O."Optimal allocation of products to downstream locations is a major requirement for minimizing the distribution costs associated with supply chain systems. Unfortunately many supply chain managers rely on their intuition and feelings to make these allocation decisions. In this study a mathematical model was developed for minimizing the distribution cost in a multi-product 2-echleon supply chain system. The distribution system of a leading bottling plant in Nigeria was studied to understand the underlying supply chain system . Attempt was made to identify system parameters, variables, limitations, criteria so as to be able to define the distribution problem The interactions and flow of products in the system were identified and characterized as a 2 echelon supply chain system. Mathematical model of the system was developed. The problem model, a linear program formulation with three major constraints; demand, availability and company policy requirements was parameterised based on demand data product availability data, company policies and unit transportation costs to various downstream locations. The model was solved for a 12 product 8 destination case. It was observed that the model application produces 6% reduction in the distribution cost compared to the existing practice of the company. It is concluded that the model is effective to reduce or minimize distribution expenses for any multiproduct multiple destination system and fulfilling demand at various destinations. "Item Predicting mean time between failures of a maintained euipment using artificial neural network(Science Hub, 2010) Oladokun, V. O; Shodimu, M. O.In this study an attempt is made to use the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model predict the Mean Time between Failures of manufacturing equipment. The equipment failure pattern was carefully studied and some key factors affecting the Mean Time between Failures were identified. An Artificial Neural Network model, the Multi-Layer perceptron, with two hidden layers and seven processing elements was built. Twelve months of maintenance data of the machine was collected. The data items were divided into 3 sets Training, Validation and Testing sets for analysis. Using the method of Back-Propagation, the Artificial Neural Network model was trained and tested. Eight input factors were identified; the output was classified into three Low, Medium and High Mean Time Between Failures. The analysis of the model confusion matrix indicates an overall model performance accuracy of 82% with a Normalised Mean Square Error of 0.24. It can be concluded that with the availability of adequate records, the Artificial Neural Network can serve as a useful maintenance management tool.Item A risk analysis model for fire disasters in commericial complexes in Nigeria(Akamai University, Hilo, HI, USA, 2010) Oladokun, V. O; Isohola, F. A.The frequent occurrence of fire accidents in commercial complexes has become a serious problem in Nigeria. The development of a quantitative tool for evaluating the proneness of a commercial complex to so called 'market fires' is the focus of this study. A rigorous review of the literature was carried to identify and characterize some existing risk analysis models applicable to the problem. Some past fire disasters were analyzed. Using the insight gained from the above, a mathematical model incorporating the modularization features of the Optimum Risk Analysis (ORA) model was developed. Graphical User Interface (GUI) based computer software of the model was developed and used to analyze some existing complexes in Lagos and Ibadan cities of Nigeria and results compared with past record of fire accidents. The application of the model and the associated software indicates its suitability in predicting fire accidents. Insurance companies and other stakeholders will find it useful.Item The sequence dependent machine set-up problem: a brief overview.(Akamai University, Hilo, HI, USA, 2008) Oladokun, V. O; .Charles-Owaba, O. E.The Sequence Dependent Machine Setup Problem (MSP), a class of difficult problems in combinatorial optimization that is representative of a large number of important scientific and engineering problems, has been attracting much attention in recent times. In this study, literature and historical reviews of the MSP were carried out. Some recent developments were reviewed while possible future research directions were also highlightedItem Solving the machine set-up problem:a case with a university production workshop.(2009) Oladokun, V. O; Eneyo, E. S.; Charles-Owaba, O. EThis paper defined and solved the machine set-up problem as a combinattorial optimization problem. Based on this, a PC based software for solving the machine set-up problem was developed and adapted for an easy-to learn-apply in a University Production Engineering workshop situation. The system stores pertient data and has features for determining the optimal sequence of production and relevant information for operator's quick manual setting-up of machine. This approach to managing the workshop was compared to the exisitng approach of selecting parts randomly. The innovation was found to improve perfomance between 23 to 55%.Item Solving the machine set-up problem:a case with a university production workshop.(2009) Oladokun, V. O; Eneyo, E.
