Item Behavioural aspects of housing(Housing development and management: a book of readings, 2008) Balogun, S.K; Olapegba, P.O.Item Coping among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). influence of social support, self-esteem, health locus of control and gender(African journal for the psychological study of social issues, 2005) Olapegba, P.O.This study investigated the influence of social support, self-esteem, locus of control and gender on coping behaviour of People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). One hundred and three (103) PLWHA; 56 males and 47 females with mean age of 29.52 selected using the purposive sampling technique participated in the study. Data were collected with a structured questionnaire and an ex-post tecta-reseerch design was employed. Result of analysis using a multiple regression indicated that social support, self-esteem, health locus of control and gender have significant joint influence with coping (F (4, 73) =5.59, p<.05). The t-test analysis showed that there is no gender difference in coping behaviour of PLWHA (t (101) =;-.60,p>.05). It is then concluded that management of HIV/AIDS should take a multidisciplinary approach, social support should be in the front burner, society should be sensitized to the importance of social support that is culturally appropriate and behaviour modification focused.Item Deployment, Effectiveness and Barriers to the Usage of Assistive Devices among Hearing Impaired Children(ICWE, 2012) Olapegba, P.O.; Oyewunmi, AItem Evidence of lowlife satisfaction among undergraduates in Southwest Nigeria(International journal of Asian social science, 2012) Oladipo, S.E.; Olapegba, P.O.; Adenaike, F. AThe paper examined satisfaction with life among 1429 undergraduates from Southwestern Nigeria. Ex post focto survey design was adopted and convenient sampling method was used. Four hundred and seventy five (475, i.e. 33.2%) males and 953 (66.8%) females, ages ranging between 16 to 27 years (M=28.47, SD = 8.76). Validated scale was used for data collection and the two hypotheses stated were confirmed after testing with appropriate statistics. A total of 837 undergraduates (58.57%) had scores less than the midpoint of 20; their mean was 14.03 (SD = 2.42). 88 (6.2%) scored exactly 20, while 504 (35.33%) scores were higher than 20. Conclusion was reached that undergraduates have low satisfaction with life and there is no significant difference between males and females regarding satisfaction with life. There is need for further research to find out the factors that account for low satisfaction with life among this sampleItem Factor Structure and Item Analysis of the Perceived Quality of Life Scale among People Living with HIV(lbadan journal of the social sciences, 2013) Olapegba, P.O.The controversy on the operational definitions of quality of life has led to the development of a number of measures which in many cases are culture specific. This study assessed the factor structure and item analysis of perceived quality of life (PQOL) among PLHA in Nigeria. Six hundred and ten PLHA from South West Nigeria participated in the study under condition of anonymity. The perceived quality of life scale and HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination scale were used for data collection. The composite PQOL scale showed high internal consistency with alpha of .923 and standardized alpha of .925, factors analysis revealed four factors (subscales) with eigenvalue before rotation ranging from 1.13 to 8.61 and after rotation from 2.52 to 4.27. Reliability coefficients of the four subscales (affiliation, locus of causality, personal health efficacy and job-family interface) were significant with alpha of. 870, .854, .907, .795 and standardized alpha of .873, .860, .909, and .803 respectively. A divergent validity was established, while the subscales were significantly interrelated. It was concluded that PQOL scale is a valid measure among PLHA and it is a multidimensional construct. Future studies are suggested to investigate the influence and effect of the subscale on the perceived quality of life among PLHA.Item "For better for what? some psychosocial factors in marital violence. "("African journal of cross-cultural psychology and sport facilitation ", 2001) Olapegba, P.O.; ||Balogun, S.K"This study examined the effects of self-esteem, socioeconomic status and age on marital violence. Marital violence is a phenomenon that is found to be pervasive in all cultures of the world, people go to the Altar to take marital vow, to love, cherish and keep one another for better for worse, in sickness and in health. Recommendation was made on approach that may be adopted to reduce incidence of marital violence. "Item Influence of customer expectations and service encounter on perception of service quality in fast food retailing(Nigerian journal of psychology, 2000) Taiwo, K.O; Aigbodon, I.A.; Olapegba, P.O."The influence of customer expectations and service encounter on perception of service quality in fast food retailing was investigated in this study, using 196 patrons of three fast food outlets in Oshodi-Jsolo Local Government Area of Lagos State. The instrument used for data collection consisted of three different scales; service encounter scale: customers' expectation scale, and perception of quality scale. A 2*2 analysis of variance and independent t-test were used to analyse the data. The results showed that there was interactive effect of service encounter and customers expectations on perceived service quality. (F1, 108=5.54;P<(0.05) . However, there was no difference in the perceived service quality of males and females (t=0.13;df=1 94.n.s). The findings of this study reveals that there are implications for consumer psychologists fast food operators, it also emphasized the need for proper training of outlet staff to deliver quality service and the provision of an enabling service climate "Item Organizational and personality factors predicting knowledge sharing intention among employees of some selected banks in Nigeria(African journal for the psychological study of social issues, 2012) Olapegba, P.O.; Ogungbamila, A.This study examined the influence of organizational and personality factors on knowledge sharing intention among bank employees in Nigeria. Using the accidental sampling techniques, a total of two hundred and seven (207) employees of two commercial banks in Nigeria participated in the study Males were 113 (54.6%), while females were 94 (45.4%). The ages of the participants ranged between 26 47 years with a mean of 33.35 years and standard deviation of 3.87. Data collection was through a battery of measures combined into a single structured questionnaire. Multiple regression was used to test the hypothesis. Findings indicated that need for achievement and need for affiliation significantly independently predicted knowledge sharing intention among bankers, whereas need for power, organizational culture and organizational trust did not. This implies that emphasis should not be placed on need for power, organizational culture, and organizational trust as these may not be the major drivers of intention to share knowledge among bank employees. However, human resource managers, recruiting officers, and agencies should develop competence in the identification of individuals high in need for achievement and need for affiliation, since they have shown to be well disposed to mutual knowledge sharing within organizations.Item Perceived sexual harasment as a function of locus of control and other personal characteristics(Nigerian journal of psychology, 1999) Balogun, S.K; Olapegba, P.O.The perception of sexual harasment as a function of locus control and personality characteristics was investigated using 200 female and male respondents who were randomly selected among university students, secondary school teachers and bank workers with a mean age of 22.97 years. they were administered the self esteem scale, locus of control scale and perceived sexual harasment scale that was purposely developed for this research. It was observed that age, locus of control and sex have an interactional influence in the perception of sexual harasment (R2= 0.14, p<. 001), married people have a higher perception of sexual harasment than single people (t=4.5, p<.05), but no significant difference difference between students and workers in their perception of sexual harasment. The findings were discussed in line with the Riger's (1991) theory of attribution. The implication of the findings for legal interpretation of sexual harasment and psychological dynamics involved were highlightedItem Sexually Transmitted Infections (STh) in Lagos State(NISER, 2002) Olokesusi, F; Olapegba, P.O.; Taiwo, O.
