Item Assessment of pre-service teachers’ satisfaction on the frequency and mode of ICT use in teacher training programmes in Nigerian universities(Crawford University, Press, 2021) Olagbaju, O. A.In compliance with the realities of an Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-driven society and global indexes in terms of quality assurance in university education, the use of ICT has been integrated into the Nigerian university system. In Nigeria, university education has received the most attention in terms of funding, technical support and policy reengineering. With the inevitable rise in ICT-based instruction globally, National Universities Commission (NUC) emphasized the use of ICT in Nigerian universities. Thus, ICT was integrated into teacher-training programmes in most Nigerian universities with huge investments made in staff training, internet connectivity, interactive smart boards, multimedia projectors and other e-learning channels. In spite of these, the use of ICT resources by university lecturers has been inconsistent or nonexistent largely due to lecturer-related variables such as age, gender and exposure. This has dire implications for pre-service teachers' satisfaction on the use of ICT in teacher-training. Therefore, this study examines pre-service teachers' satisfaction on the frequency and mode of ICT use in teacher-training in University of Ibadan. Seven research questions are raised and data were collected with ICT using online survey comprisingl40 participants. The results shows that pre-service teachers are not satisfied with frequency and mode of ICT use in teacher education. The study also found that younger lecturers make use of ICT-resources more than the older colleagues in Nigerian Universities. Regular training of lecturers on the use of ICT and improved power supply are recommended for optimal gains in the integration of ICT in teacher education.Item Computer literacy, attitude to computer and learning styles as predictors of physics students' achievement in senior secondary schools of Oyo State(2019) Dare, S. O.; Abimbade, A.; Abimbade, O. A.; Akinyemi, A.; Olasunkanmi, I. A.Physics, a subject in the senior secondary school occupies a central position in science education. Physics in this 21st century as a course of study and field is experiencing new discoveries at such a rate that it cannot continue to be taught using only traditional and conventional method and the teacher-centred approach. The invention of computer-based resources for teaching the subject would be a great advantage if explored. Hence, the factors which impede students’ use of computer technology in learning of Physics however need to be investigated. This study investigated three of these factors and found that student’s computer literacy, attitude to computer and learning styles jointly correlate with achievement of students in Physics (R = 0.18) with each factor making respective relative contributions. While computer literacy could not predict the dependent measure (B= -0.055; t = -0.67; p<0.05), attitude to computer could (B- 0.18; t = -1.09; p>0.05) and learning styles could not (B= 0.20; t = 0.25; p>0.05). It was recommended that Physics students should be motivated to learn and be equipped with computer appreciation and operational skills while computer systems need to be made available and accessible for Physics learning in the school system.Item Creating learner-generated content: graduate students' experience and challenges(Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan, 2017) Adedoja, G. A.Item Digitalising yoruba orthography instruction using interactive e-content(Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, 2020-06) Olasunkanmi, I. A.; Odeleke, D. O.This study examined the effects of interactive e-content package, intelligent quotient and language orientation on students' achievement in Yoruba orthography. The study adopted the pretest-posttest, control group, quasi experimental design with a 3x3x2 factorial matrix. Participants were 80 JSS II students (in intact classes of two public schools randomly selected from two Local Government Areas in Oyo State. Two instruments, Yoruba Language Achievement Test (r=0.69) and Language Intelligence Quotient Test (r=0.5) were used while three hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Data were analysed using ANOVA. Results showed significant effects of treatment, language orientation and intelligence quotienton students' achievement in Yoruba orthography The study concludes that teachers should consider language orientation and intelligence quotient in using e-packages for Yoruba orthography instruction. Therefore, teachers should adopt Yoruba interactive e-content package for the teaching of Yoruba orthography to improve achievement in Yoruba language.Item Gender, age, academic level and department as correlates of students' perceptions of social networking as learning tool(Department of Educational Management, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, 2013-01) Adedoja, G. O.; Olasunkanmi, I. A.Technology, over the ages is recognised as a tool for doing things in neater, faster, better and particularly easier ways. People use technology to make their operations more fascinating, interesting and motivating in all facets of human endeavour including education. The study examined the contributions of age, gender, level of study, and department as correlates of Distance learning students' perceptions of social networking technology as a collaborative learning tool. A validated 4-likert scale questionnaire on students' perception was administered to 360 participants selected through stratified sampling technique. The results of this study showed that gender, field of study, academic level and age group have significant influence on student's perceptions of social networking as a collaborative learning tool. It was recommended that both students and teachers intending to integrate social networking to enrich instructions delivery should be adequately trained and motivated to acquire needed skills and confidence.Item Instructional media in enhancing occupational safety/health in engineering workplaces: experience versus qualification(The Nigeria Association for Educational Media and Technology, 1999) Olasunkanmi, I. A.Accidents, the world over, have brought varieties of loss with diverse consequences that made them gain the attention of ILO. This paper has not only considered the concept of and legal positions in occupational safety and health, but also the perception of instructional media as means of enhancing them in engineering workplaces. A total number of 100 workers were used for the study and the result reveals no significant difference between the qualified and less qualified workers, while significant difference existed between the experienced and less experienced. It was deduced that accident rates reduction is possible through adequate provision and utilization of instructional materials in engineering workplaces.Item Knowledge, attitude and practice of cybercrime among secondary school students in Nigeria(Fafunwa Educational Foundations ( FEF) In Collaboration with The Faculty of Education, University of Lagos, Akoka-Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria, 2020-09) Olasunkanmi, I. A.The Internet, which has opened a vast array of possibilities for the young and the old in the social, economic, education, health and other sectors, has been flawed by the rise in internet crimes regarded as unethical use of the computer and internet which could cripple the nation's economy if not given attention. These include cyber fraud (yahoo-yahoo), plagiarism, pornography, and piracy of software. Reports have shown that perpetrators of these cybercrimes have been assumed to be youths usually within the ages of 15 and 30 years. Despite various efforts put in place to address the menace it appears the unwanted practice still persists. It seems that youngsters enter into the practice ignorantly and with confused attitude to it. Therefore, this paper investigated students' awareness of computer ethics, knowledge, attitude to and practice of computer ethics among Junior Secondary School 3 students in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The study is a descriptive survey design using with a total of eighty-five (85) participants. The results show that majority of the students were aware of the ethical and unethical use of the computer/internet, few of the respondents are very knowledgeable as regards computer ethics and they have a positive attitude towards computer ethics. Each of the respondents engages in more than two unethical ways of using the computer/internet. The paper concludes that secondary school students engage in unethical use of computer/ internet despite their awareness, knowledge and a show of positive attitude to ethical use of computer/internet. A.The traditional pedagogical methods of teaching have promoted rote learning among children where the traditional learner is a passive recipient of whatever is being taught. Today, there is the challenge of integrating e-leaming at all levels of education. However, exceptional children who have different types of impairments have not benefited immensely like their able-bodied mates and those in developed nations like USA and Europe. This paper, however investigates the place of e-leaming in special education, the supporting theory, as well as e-leaming solutions for teaching children with special needs and customizing e-leaming for both students and teachers. The study used 19 female participants with different spans of work experience, and found out that they possess positive dispositions towards e-leaming in the educating children with special education needs.Item Pre-service teachers’ awareness and attitude towards user-generated content as a collaborative learning tool(2015-01) Adedoja, G. A.The promotion of learners’ active participation and becoming responsible for their own learning through the use of information communication technologies (ICT) is quite encouraging and exciting in the age of digital technologies. In particular, the Internet-based platforms and facilities that assist students in creating and sharing knowledge is becoming more popular today. This paper examined the University of Ibadan Pre-service teachers’ awareness and attitudinal disposition toward user-generated content as a collaborative learning tool with respect to their gender and teaching subject. The sample population comprised 78(42.2%) male and 107(57.82%) female 100 level students drawn from five departments where teaching subjects are offered in the Faculty of Education. A questionnaire containing students’ awareness and attitude scales (QPAAUGC), validated with Kuder Richardson 20 (reliability indices = 0.75 and 0.66 respectively) was administered to the participants. Two research questions and four hypotheses were raised and tested respectively in the study. The findings show that 63.3% of the students were aware of, and have positive attitude towards UGC. However, gender and teaching subject contributed significantly (t = 2.298, p<.05) and (F (J l82) = 13.020, p<0.05) to students’ level of awareness. Also, gender ana teaching subject contributed significantly (t g3 = 2.298, p<.05) and (F (2182) = 13.020, p<0.05) to students’ attitude to UGC as a collaborative learning tool. Premised on the findings, this paper highlights its recommendations and conclusions.Item Student-factor as determinants of student pastors’ attitude, perception and motivation to use icts for learning of languages in Baptist College of Theology, Lagos(2019) Adeniran, A. A.This study examined student-pastors’ attitude, perception and motivation to use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for the teaching and learning of languages in theological institutions. Forty- six (46) 100, 200. 300 and 400 levels student-pastors selected by purposive random sampling from the Theology, Religious Education, and Church Music Departments of Baptist College of Theology, Lagos participated in the study. Teaching and Learning Languages Questionnaires (TLLQ) was used to collect data in order to test four null hypotheses at p<. 05 level of significance. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and t-test. Findings indicated that there is no significant difference in the student pastors’ perception, motivation and attitude to the use of instructional software in learning languages across subject areas, gender, age and levels of study
