Marketing and promotion of information services in the university of Ibadan library
    (Sage, 2003) Ekpenyong, G. D.
Lack of an effective marketing strategy of library resources has been found to be the main reason why target users- university teachers, researchers and students- are not using the Kenneth Dike library of the university of Ibadan as they should. It was found that less than a quarter of these targeted user register annually in the library. A more aggressive marketing strategy has been set in place to sensitize users to the wealth of information resources available in this great library.

Agricultural research in Nigeria: the roles of institutional libraries
(Bowker, part of reed business information ltd. Windsor court, east grinstead house east grinstead, west sussex RH19 1XA,UK, 2001-06) Ekpenyong, G. D.
Investigates the problems of agricultural research libraries vis-à-vis their effects on the advancement of agricultural research in Nigeria. Proffers solutions in the form of modern electronic information facilities like electronic networking, e-mail and internet access. A method of working is suggested in which research institutes and universities in southwest Nigeria can each selectively develop a database information system on agricultural research, all of which are coordinated through a local area network. This will facilities access to information possessed by other such institutions. The advantages of the model are numberous: reduction of the cost information acquisition, reduction in the duplication of reserch efforts and greater productivity by agricultural research scientist.

The effect of climate on the seasonal activity and abundance of Amblyomma Variegatumn (fabricus,1794) (acarina:ixodidae)
    (University of Ibadan, 1996) Ekpenyong, G. D.
Amblyomma variegatum (fabricus,1794) (acarina:Ixodidae) is a tropical tick found in all the ecological sones of Nigeria. It parasitises all livestock, but is most common on cattle of the zebu type. A variegatum is a 3-host tick. In Nigeria, cattle are reared in the savannah zone of northern Nigeria and only brought down to the south (forest zone) where Ibadan is located, to be slaughtered for food. Cattle are not reared in the south becuase of the adverse effect of Glossina sp. on them. In Ibadan there is only one rainy season per year and this period coincides with the high incidence of A. variegatum adult females on trade cattle during the rains. In this study, it was observed that climatic factors such as rainfall, temperature, humidity and sunshine affect the seasonal appearance of the adults, larvae and nymphs of A. variegatum on trade cattle.

Computer technology and information retrieval in Nigeria
(Journal of the African society for the psychological study of social issues, 1994-09) Ekpenyong, G. D.
Computer technology, though still advancing in developed countries, is still in its infancy in Nigeria. The benefits of this technology are highlighted and its potential as a fast and easy way of communication globally is undiputed. How can Nigeria benefit from this technology? Some of the problems of introducing this new technology and actually making it work are discussed.

    Festivals in Nigeria: a bibliography
(The department of culture, Federal Ministry of Youth, sports and culture, P.M. B 12524, Lagos, 1981) Ekpenyong, G. D.
or national awareness for the revival of our cultural heritage. It is hoped that Nigerians and aliens resident in Nigeria, researchers in African studies, would find this publication a guide to a better knowledge of the cultural heritage and diversity of the peoples of Nigeira. It is necessary to emphasise, however that although this is a pioneering effort to record all the known and unknown traditional festivals held annually or in some cases, after a long interval of time, this bibliography is by no means exhaustive.

Laboratory studies of the life cycle and behaviour of Amblyomma Variegatum (Fabricus,1794) (Acarina:ixodidae)
    (1990) Ekpenyong, G. D.
Amblyomma variegatum is a 3-host tick parasitising livestock in Nigeria. It is of great economic importance because it is a known vector of disease-causing microorganisms, such as Dermatophilus congolensis, Theileria mutans and cowdria ruminatium. It has a long life cycle which in the laboratory at 25 °C and the relative humidity of 85% lasts 160-200 days. It was observed that the longest developmental period occurred at the egg stage(eggs are laid on the ground). This makes this stage the most vulnerable, considering that they are the ones more exposed to climatic and enviromental hazards.

Experimental Infestation of rabbits with Amblyomma Variegatum larvae:host effects on larval yield, engorged weight and engorgement period.
    (1990) Ekpenyong, G. D.
Rabbits infested Amblyomma variegatum larvae were not able to acguire a resistance which effectively inhibited their feeding. There was no significant diiference in "larval yeild",engrogement period of the larvae harvested from the primary, secondary and tertiary infestations. While enviromental tempreture had a marked influence on the "larval yeild", engorged weight and engorgement period of the larvae, the sex of the rabbits did not affect them.
