Item Influence of digital literacy skills on job performance of library personnels in selected academic libraries in Southwestern, Nigeria(Scholarship Publishers, Ibadan, 2020) Tomomowo-Ayodele, S. O.; Omoike, A. D.The study investigated influence of digital literacy skills on job performance of library personnel in selected academic libraries in Southwestern, Nigeria. Survey research method of expost-facto type was adopted for the study. The study population consisted of one hundred and four (104) library personnel’s in the two selected academic libraries (University of Ibadan and Obafemi Awolowo University). The population of the study consisted of para- professionals, professional librarians and library officers. Data were collected using questionnaire and were analysed using simple percentages, mean and Pearson’s Products Moment Correlation methods. The results revealed that library personnel in the two selected academic libraries possessed digital literacy skills such that they work easily with the computer without supervision (85.6%), use the computer every day at work (84.6%) and are skilled in using the computer (82.7%) among others. However, the digital literacy skills possessed by the librarians do not translate to job performance. Findings revealed a negative digital literacy skills on job performance of library personnel in the two universities (Df= 102, N= 104, r = -.060, P > 0.05). The study recommended that the University management should support the library and ensure the improvement of the library so as to continually meeting the needs of the library users, by procuring good computers to facilitate a digital library in order to facilitate resource sharing in the library to enhance teaching, learning and research.Item Investigation into factors inhibiting effective job performance of academic librarians at selected university libraries in North central Nigeria(Unisa Press, 2020) Kutu, J. O.; Garaba, F.The article examined factors that inhibit effective job performance of academic librarians at selected universities in North Central Nigeria. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and task–technology fit theories were the theoretical frameworks underpinning the study. The survey research design was used for the study. The study population consisted of 135 academic librarians and heads of library at seven university libraries. The total enumeration method was then adopted to select academic librarians. Sampling was purposive and enumerative as all members of the population were used for the study. A total of 128 copies of a questionnaire were administered across the seven university libraries. Out of this total, 103 copies were duly completed and returned for quantitative analysis, giving a response rate of 81 per cent. In addition, the census method was used. Copies of the survey questionnaire were used mainly to collect quantitative data from the academic librarians, and interviews were used to collect qualitative data from the university librarians (heads of library). The findings from the study revealed that 90 per cent of the respondents noted that there are hindrances to their job performance.Item Utilisation of information as determinants of Job performance of library staff in public universities in south-west Nigeria(2012-10) Kutu, J. O.The study investigates utilisation of information as determinants of job performance of library staff in public universities in Soult –West, Nigeria. Findings showed that effective management of resources depends on the adequate use of information in the decision making process of a library. Findings further showed that the independent variable (information utilisation) was found to be significantly related to job performance of library staff. The study recommends that information sources be provided to support library staff in performing their jobs. Also, to increase job performance, information sources in the library should be made available through library association, symposium, conference proceedings, attending seminars, scholarship and so on.
