Item Teacher variables as correlates of work absenteeism among public secondary school teachers in the southwestern Nigeria(Educational assessment and research network in Africa, 2016) Ogundokun, M.O.; Oderinde, O.Item Effective interventions of self-efficacy training in the reduction of test anxiety of student nurses in Ogbomosho north local government, Oyo state, Nigeria(Departement of Ecnomics, University of Maiduguri, 2013-06) Ogundokun, M.O.; Akanbi, S.T."This study investigated the effectiveness of self-efficacy training in reducing test anxiety among student nurses. Fifty-one final year students of school of Nursing Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria were used for the study. The research adopted the 2x2 quasi experimental design and the major instruments used for the study were Sarason Text Anxiety Scale and the usual class achievement tests. The data were analyzed with the aid of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The findings indicate that the participants exposed to self-efficacy training showed a significant improvement in their academic performance than those in control group. Also, it was found that test anxiety when not properly managed has a significant negative effect on academic performance of students and that there are interactions effects between test anxiety and self-efficacy on the academic performance of the participant. It is recommended that self-efficacy strategies should be used for the treatment of test anxiety either for diminishing the crippling effects of test anxiety or to teach students how to utilize the anxiety to their advantage. "Item Relationship between continuous assessment and academic performance of secondary school students in english language and mathematics in Ibadan(African Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, 2012) Ogundokun, M.O.; Ogundele, T.OThis study examined the effect of continuous assessment on academic performance of students in English language and Mathematics in secondary schools. The study adopted a descriptive survey research that utilized an ex-post facto design to collect secondary data of 840 students used for this study. Four hypotheses were tested for and analysed using Pearson's Product Moment Correlation and t-test for independent samples analysis tested at the O.05 level of significance. The result of the analysis showed that there were positive significant relationship between continuous assessment and academic performance in English language and Mathematics. Government, school administration and teachers should ensure effective implementation and practice of continuous assessment to improve on students' performance. Parents and the students should also respond positively to the feedback given by continuous assessment to enhance its remediation as well as teacher dwelling on its outcome to adjust the teaching and learning process. The government should also improve on the conditions of teaching and learning in the public secondary schools.Item Predictive validity of post-ume scores of first year students in the Nigerian universities between 2006-2009(Nigerian Association of Educational Researchers and Evaluators, 2012) Ogundokun, M.O.; Adedoja, I. A.The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have been facing a lot of criticism due to the poor performance or poor quality of Nigerian university undergraduates. Candidates for admissions into Nigerian universities are made to undergo Post-UME screening before they are admitted into the Nigerian universities. This study was designed to investigate the Predictive Validity of Post-University Matriculation Examination of First Year Students of Nigerian Universities from 2006- 2009. The samples used were 5,846 1students from two Nigerian Universities who were admitted between 2006 and 2009 into Eight Faculties. Data were collected from the records and admissions office of the two universities used for the study. The data were subjected to analysis using Pearson's Product Moment Correlation and multiple regression analysis. The result showed that CGPA and Post-UME scores of students is positively significant to the undergraduate academic achievement Therefore, Post- UME is relevant and adequate to serve as criterion validity for performance in the university. It was recommended that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) should take a deeper look into her examinations in terms of focus and emphasis vis-a-vis the actual skills and competences the universities emphasize.Item Effect of testwiseness training on objective test performance in mathematics among secondary school students in Ekiti state(Department of Guidance and Counselling University of Ibadan, 2012-06) Ogundokun, M.O.; Olaoye, A.O.This study examined the effect of testwiseness training on objective test performance in mathematics among secondary school student in Ekiti State. The study employed a pre-test, post-test, control group quasi-experimental design with a 2x2x2 factorial matrix. A stratified random sampling was used to select 188 participants from four Senior Secondary Schools (two private schools and two public schools) in one local government areas in Ekiti state. The participants were randomly assigned to treatment and control groups. The treatment group was exposed to seven weeks training in testwiseness skills while participants in control group were not given treatment. Four hypotheses were tested at the 0.05 level of significance. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The results revealed that there was significant main effect of treatment on Mathematics achievement test scores of participants. There were no significant main effects of gender and school type on Mathematics achievement test scores of participants. There was also no significant interaction effect of treatment, gender and school type on Mathematics achievement test scores of participants. The study points to the need for Mathematics teachers to integrate Testwiseness training into the teaching of Mathematics.Item Psycho-Social factors as correlates of anti-social behaviour among secondary school adolescents in Oke-Ogun area, Oyo state(Department of Guidance and Counselling University of Ibadan, 2011) Ogundokun, M.O.; Alamu, L.O.The study investigated some psycho-social factors as correlates of anti-social behaviors among secondary school adolescents in Oke-Ogun Area, Oyo State. Descriptive survey research design was employed. A multi-stage random sampling technique was employed in selecting 694 participating adolescents from two Local Government randomly selected from the list 9 Local Government in Oke-Ogun Area of Oyo State. Their age ranged between 11 years and 19 years with the mean age of 12.6 years and the standard deviation 4.57. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation and Multiple regression analysis was used to analyse the data. The results demonstrated that each of the psycho-social factors jointly influence anti-social behaviors among secondary school adolescents, but peer relation is the most potent factor that influences anti-social behaviors. The implications of the findings for educational and counselling practice were highlighted.Item Learning style, school environment and test anxiety as correlates of learning outcomes among secondary school students(Ife Center for Psychological Studies and Psychologia (Ghana) Ltd, 2011) Ogundokun, M.O."The study investigated learning styles, school environment and test anxiety as predictors of learning outcomes among secondary school students. The participants were administered four valid and reliable instruments to assess the predictors of learning outcomes among the students (learning styles, school environment and test anxiety). Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation and Multiple regression analysis were used to analyse the data. The result demonstrated that learning styles, school environment and test anxiety jointly predicts the learning outcomes but test anxiety is the most potent predictor of learning outcomes. The implications of the findings for educational and counselling practice were highlighted.
