(Faculty of Social Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, 2023-06) Adeoti, A. B.; Oladipo, O. M.; Oladoyinbo, L. O.
Substance consumption is a major issue that has taken a deep root in our society. This study examined the effect of substance consumption among commercial drivers in selected parks in Ibadan metropolis. The study employed a descriptive survey design and a multistage sampling technique was also used to select two modem parks at Ojoo and Challenge in Ibadan while simple random sampling was used to select 188 commercial drivers at the two parks. A structured questionnaire was used to gather information from the respondents. The data collected were analysed using simple percentage and frequency counts while Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) statistical package was used to analyse the hypotheses. Findings revealed that the correlation between substance use and reasons for substance use was not significant but positive and low [0.068 (0.352)] which indicate that substances were taken on account of getting high and to remain awake while driving. Also, the correlation between substance use and implications for substance use was significant but negative and low [-0.228 (0.002)]. Findings also showed that the correlation between substance use and measures for eradicating substance use was not significant as well as negative and low [-0.101 (0.169] which means measures were not enforced by the government agency, hence, rules were not adhered to. The study recommends that government agency should develop a device for testing drivers who test positive to any substances, also, the state and local governments should enact laws and sanction any commercial drivers caught abusing substances

    (2022-06) Mojoyinola, J. K.; Afolabi, A.; Adeoti, A. B.
The study investigated how some home support variables (home companionship support. home financial support and home physical exercise) affect the vvell-being of children with cerebral palsy in selected children's homes in Oyo State. Nigeria. The descriptive survey research designs of correlational and ex-post-facto types were employed for the study. The purposive sampling technique was used to select 153 participants for the study. They comprised 61 male and 92 female children with cerebral palsy whose ages range from 5 to 20 years and above. Four hypotheses were tested in the study at a 0.05 level of significance, using Multiple regression and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. There was a significant relationship between each of the home support variables and well-being of children with cerebral palsy in selected children's homes in Oyo State as follow: home companionship support and well-being (r = .575, N 153, p< .05), home financial support and well- being (r = .672, N = 153, p< .05) and home physical exercise and well-being (r= .359, N = 153, p< .05). There was a joint significant effect of home support variables (home companionship support, home financial support and home physical exercise) on the well-being of children with cerebral palsy in selected children's homes in Oyo State (R = .673, R: = .452, Adjusted R2 = .441. Standard error of estimate = 6.870. F(3/l 49) = 41.021, P<.05). The study also revealed significant relative effects of each of the home support variables on well-being of children with cerebral palsy in selected children's homes in Oyo State as follow: home financial support (P= 0.432. t = 9.825. p<.05), home companionship support (P = 0.140. t = 5.439. p<.05. and home physical exercise (P = 0.168, t = 4.352, p<.05). Based on the above findings some useful recommendations were made in the study which would go a long way in helping parents, homes, schools and other caregivers meet the needs of children with cerebral palsy and other children alike.

A structures questionnaire for data collection was used. The hypotheses were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The result shows that there is no significant relationship between psychoactive substance and alcohol use and physical well-being of young adults in selected market areas (r = ,044, n=143,p(. 602)>.05). The result further shows that there is a significant relationship between psychoactive substance and alcohol use and psychological well- being(r = .326, n-143, p(.000)<.05).Finally, the result shows that there is a significant relationship between psychoactive substance and alcohol use and social well-being of young adults in selected market area (r = .284, n=143,p(.001)<.05). (Department of Guidance and Counselling, University of Ibadan, 2019-11) Ishola, A.; Adeoti, A. B.
The study investigated the People’s perception of the implementation of NHIS and its impacts on the enrollees, among workers of the federal agencies in the Ibadan metropolis. It adopted a descriptive survey design. Two hundred and fifty enrollees across the federal agencies in the federal secretariat in Ibadan participated in the study. It examined the implementation of NHIS, utilization of NHIS, level of satisfaction with health care providers, the evaluation of the referral process from primary to secondary care services, distance of the health care facility, satisfaction with services at the secondary and tertiary health care levels. Data was analysed using frequency distribution, percentage and multiple regression analysis tested at 0.05 level of significance. Results revealed that more than two-third (81%) of the respondents reported visiting NHIS accredited healthcare facility in the past two years. The patient’s utilisation was high. However, nurses attitude, and waiting time were found to be the major causes of dissatisfaction. Quality service, enrollees satisfaction with services, location of the PHCs and management of the referral process have direct relationship and predicted increase in utilization rates. Independently, Service quality, enrollees’ satisfaction with services, location of the PHCs were predictors NHIS utilization. Therefore, concerted efforts should be directed by all stakeholders towards the areas of patient dissatisfaction through better service delivery.
