Item Emotional intelligence, self-esteem, age and gender of learners as correlates of academic self-efficacy of secondary school students from Ibadan, Nigeria(2013-01) Ogundokun, M. OThis study examined the relationship among emotional intelligence, self-esteem. age and gender of learners on the academic self-efficacy of secondary school students. Five hundred and sixty seven students from Ibadan, Oyo State Nigeria responded to a set of Questionnaires consisting of measures of emotional intelligence (EI), self-esteem (SE) and academic self-efficacy (ASE). Hierarchical regression analyses conducted for each dependent variable showed that emotional intelligence, self-esteem and aze predicted students' academic self-efficacy. This research indicates that counselling psvcholozists and teachers should focus on teaching emotional intelligence as a strarezv to develop academic self-efficacy and attitudes of students in all the Nigerian educational institutions. When students are educated to be emotionally and socially intelligent, their general performance can be improved.Item "Effect of Critical Thinking Skill on Mathematics Performance of Senior Secondary School Students in Ibadan, Nigeria."(His Lineage Publishing House, 2016-07) Rasheed, I. O..; Ogundokun, M. O"This study investigated the effect of Critical Thinking Skill on Mathematics performance of senior secondary school students, Ibadan. This study adopted the pre-test post test control group quasiexperimental design with 2x2 factorial matrix. Two schools were selected randomly from two different local government area in Ibadan and sixty senior secondary school students were used for the study. The major instrument used for the study was Mathematics Performance Test. The data were analysed using Analysis of Covariance tested at 0.05 level of significance. The results showed a significant main effect of . treatment of Mathematics performance among participants. Also, Critical Thinking Skill was more effective than Control group. Furthermore, it was found that there was significant main effect of gender in enhancing Mathematics performance of students. At the end, intervention programme was found effective means of enhancing students' understanding of Mathematics concepts. It is therefore recommended that students should be encouraged through different intervention in learning mathematic and to reduce examination anxiety."Item "Role of counselling services in eradicating social exclusion of underachieving secondary school students in ibadan "(His Lineage Publishing House, 2015-07) Ogundokun, M. O"Social exclusion is a form of depriving an individual/ group of people from participating or benefiting from some factors /activities of which they have the right to partake from. This study therefore, examined the role of counselling services in eradicating social exclusion of underachieving students. A descriptive survey research design of an expost facto type was adopted. A total of 500 participants were randomly selected from underachieving secondary school students in Ibadan. 228 (45.6%) were males while 272 (54.4%) were females. The instruments used for the study were School Counselling services scale (SCSS) and Social Inclusion Scale (515). Data were analysed using Pearson's Product Moment Correlation and t-test tested at the 0.05 level of significance. The result showed that counselling has been perceived to be an effective tool in eradicating social exclusion among underachieving students in schools. It was therefore recommended that Counsellors should ensure to help students who may feel excluded or who show signs of isolation and truancy to ensure they are assisted to develop courage and determination to Improve. O"The purpose of the study was to examine secondary school students 'perception and the challenges it poses to guidance counselors in the school community. The participants for the study comprised 205secondary school students in Ido Local Government Area, Oyo State. Descriptive survey research design was employed. A simple random technique was employed in selecting 205 participants across the Local Government Area and four instruments were used to collect data. Their age ranged between 11 years 17years with the mean age of 10.4 years and the standard deviation 4.68. Pearson's Product Moment Correlation and Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The results showed that social support was the most potent factors contributing to students' perception about school. Parents, teachers ,guidance counselors as well as government should cooperate in changing students' perception about school so as to have a fulfilling stay in school. "Item Career aspiration, job demands and social interest as predictors of job satisfaction of secondary school teachers(Department of Social Work University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, 2013-06) Ogundokun, M. OThis study examines how career aspiration, job demands and social interest predict job satisfaction of secondary school Teachers. The study adopted a survey research design. Three hundred Secondary School teachers from Odeda Local Government Area, Ogun State responded to a set of questionnaires consisting of measures of Career Aspiration (a =.73), Job Demands (a =.84), Social Interest (a = .90) and Job Satisfaction (a =.98). Their age ranged between 24 and 55 years with mean age of 35.35years. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation and Multiple regression analyses were used to analyses the data. The result shows that career aspiration and social interest were the potent predictors associated to teachers ’ job satisfaction. The study also reveals a significant relationship among career aspiration, job demands and social interest on the job satisfaction of teachers. The study has implications for the government and organisations responsible to the career developmental needs of teachers by providing career opportunities that match teachers ’ career aspirations. This will go a long way in making them get satisfy with their career, enhance efficiency and increase productivity. Intending teachers should consider the job demands of the profession in secondary schools; develop the required prerequisite before taking up teaching as a career.Item Psychological factors as predictors of job performance among teachers in Iseyin local government, Oyo state(Official Journal of the College of Applied Education and Vocational Technology, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijehu-Ode, Nigeria., 2013-10) Ogundokun, M. OThe study investigated the predictive value of emotional intelligence, psychological well-being, teacher efficacy and locus of control as correlates of job performance among teachers in Iseyin Local Government, Oyo State. The study adopted a survey research design. The participants in the study were 300 (male -135, female =165) teacher from government owned schools in Iseyin Local Government, Oyo State. Their age ranged between 24 years and 56 years with mean age of 34.6 years. Five valid and reliable instruments were used to assess emotional intelligence (a=.78), psychological well-being (α=.84), teacher efficacy (α=.64), locus of control (a=.72) and job performance (α=.64). Descriptive statistics, Pearson's Product Moment Correlation and multiple regression analysis were used to analyse the data. The results revealed that emotional intelligence, psychological well-being, teacher efficacy and locus of control were potent predictors mildly associated to job performance. The study has implications for government, that teachers should understand their emotions and express themselves in order to relate well with others so as to successfully cope with the demands of daily life and there is need for Government and management of organizations to consider some formative factors identified to be the strong influence of job performance and integrate them in any employees' development programmed to improve employees' performance in the workplace. Therefore, it will be a great importance for managements, government agencies, grass-root governments and establishments to understand and design policies or strategies to improve on their workers' performance.Item Sociological factors as predictors of academic emotion among Nigeria university students(African journal for the psychological study of social issues, 2013) Ogundokun, M. O; Ojo, O .FThis study investigated the sociological factors as predictors of academic emotion among Nigeria University students. The study adopted a survey research design. The participants in the study were 345 undergraduates in South-West, Nigeria. Their age ranged between 17 years and 24 years with mean age of 21.69 years. Three valid and reliable instruments were used to assess academic emotion, parental involvement and social support while birth order was assessed by requesting the participants to fill out a short family history form as part of a battery of sociological tests. Descriptive statistics, Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation and multiple regression analysis were used to analyse the data. The result revealed that parental involvement, social support and birth order were potent predictors mildly associated to academic emotion. The study has implications for behaviour therapist, educational psychologists, educational stakeholders, government and parents on how challenges faced by student under a serious emotional strain which are virtually involved in every aspect of teaching and learning process can be reduced and well managed.
