Item Availability and accessibility to internet facilities as determinants of effective editorial services in book publishing firms in Southwestern Nigeria(Department of Educational Management, University of lbadan, Ibadan. A.Internet facilities are crucial for effective performance of editors in the book Publishing firms, as such availability of internet facilities in Publishing firms and editors’ access to such available facilities are the fulcrum to editorial Services. It is in the light of this that this study examined availability and accessibility to internet facilities as determinants of effective editorial Services in book Publishing firms in Southwestern Nigeria. Survey design was adopted for the study, structured questionnaire titled "Availability and Accessibility to Internet Facilities by Editors" was the research instrument, while four research questions were asked. The study population was the 54 registered educational Publishing firms in Southwestern Nigeria, while the sample for the study were the 102 editors in 25 Publishing firms that were randomly selected. The data collected was analysed using percentages and Statistical mean. Findings revealed a strong link between access to internet facilities and effective editorial Services in book Publishing firms. The study, therefore, recommended that editors should be given improved access to the internet facilities to boost their performance and improve the fortune of the Publishing industry.Item Fund accessibility on research and output of academic staff in the University of Ibadan, Nigeria(2018-05) Isuku, E. J.; Bello, A. O.The problem in accessing funds for research by most university academics in Nigeria has imposed serious limitations to the growth of quality research output in the country. Thus, this study investigated the influence of fund accessibility on the research output of academic staff of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. The descriptive survey research design was adopted study. The population comprised the entire academic staff of University of Ibadan. A total of 320 academic staffs were sampled via the simple random technique. Data were collected through self-designed questionnaire and checklist Questionnaire was used to measure the extent to which fund accessibility influence research output while checklist was used to show the six years (2011-2016) trend in research funding and the of fund accessibility in the University. The collected data were analyzed using level descriptive statistics (Frequency counts and percentages) and inferential statistics (Pearson Correlation. The hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance. The result showed that there is significant positive relationship between research fund accessibility and research output in the University of Ibadan. The stringent conditions attached to research grant, difficulty in the retirement process for the grant and inadequate information have made it difficult for university lecturers to access research grant This invariably has negative impact on the output of research (reduction in the research output). The study therefore recommends that university-based research grants be made readily, frequently, made and easily accessible to lecturers in the university for research output hat will enhance national social and economic developmentItem Availability, accessibility and acceptance (3As) of advanced digital technologies among higher education students with special needs in Oyo State, Nigeria(Department of Vocational Education, University of Uyo, Nigeria, 2018-08) Lazarus, K. U.The world has become a global village. It is now crystal clear that life at present is different from life few decades ago. Nowadays, every society is striving for apt knowledge that can he used as panacea to solve their myriad problems. Previous studies have focused largely on the use of digital technologies among students without special needs with little consideration to students with special needs. Therefore, this paper investigated the availability, accessibility and acceptance of advanced digital technologies among higher education students with special needs in Oyo State, Nigeria. The descriptive research method was employed while the multi stage sampling procedure was used to select the sample for the study. First, purposive e sampling technique was used to select two higher education institutions that are owned by the federal government of Nigeria (one college of education and one university). Second, random sampling technique of the ballot method was used to select one hundred and forty (140) participants with special needs (those with hearing impairment were 125 and those with visual impairment were 15). Two structured questionnaires on availability, acceptance and accessibility of advanced digital technologies by higher education students with special needs were used for data collection. To guide the study, six research questions were raised and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The data was collated and analysed using the descriptive statistics of percentages, means and standard deviation. li was found that for higher education students with hearing impairment, digital technologies are poorly available and inaccessible. However, among higher education students with visual impairment, there is moderate availability, accessibility and acceptance of digital technologies. Based on the findings, it was recommended that the Nigerian government at all levels should brace up to their responsibilities and provide digital technologies for students with special needs particularly, those with hearing impairment in higher educational institutions in the country.
