Item Teaching styles and parental bonding as correlates of academic boredom among undergraduates in Oyo State(Institute of Education, University of Ibadan and MANEDEC Global Synergy Nigeria Limited, Ibadan, 2024) Adeyemi A. O.This study investigates the relationship between teaching techniques, parental bonding, and the factors that lead to academic boredom among undergraduates in Oyo State. The study employed a non-experimental design of correlational research type. A total of 250 undergraduates (107 males and 143 females) were randomly picked from three institutions in Oyo State. The age range of the individuals was between 16 and 26 years, with an average age of 16.83. Three assessments with demonstrated validity and reliability were employed to assess teaching styles, parental bonding, and academic boredom. The data was analyzed using Pearson's Product Moment Correlation and multiple regression at a significance threshold of 0.05. The findings indicated a strong correlation between teaching styles and academic boredom (r=0.21; p<0.05), as well as parental bonding (r=0.33; p<0.05). The combination of teaching styles and parental bonding accounted for 20.8% of the Variation in predicting academic boredom. Furthermore, the study found that teaching styles (ß= -0.39, t=-3.66; p<0.05) and parental bonding (ß=0.366, t=4.91; p<0.05) significantly predicted academic boredom. This could prompt the undergraduates to request the necessary educational resources for their studies. Additionally, it could foster a greater enthusiasm for academic tasks, thereby eliminating feelings of boredom. Therefore, itis recommended that parents should prioritize establishing a deep emotional connection with their children and wards.Item Attitudes of undergraduate students to the study of french language as a general study course in Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Nigeria(Canadian Academy of Oriental and Occidental Culture, 2013-10) Araromi, M. O.The study examined the attitudes of undergraduate students to the study of French language as a general study course in Nigerian tertiary institutions using Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Nigeria as a case study. A total of 200 undergraduate students of this university constitute the sample for this study. The research adopted descriptive research design of survey type. The results show that area of specialization has influence on attitudes of students towards French language. Also, there is no significant difference between the male and female undergraduate students’ attitude towards French language. The results further revealed that there is a significant difference in students’ attitudes and the knowledge of French language. It is recommended that the Government should make French language compulsory in all tertiary institutions in Nigeria as part of efforts to make Nigeria English-French bilingual nation.Item A study of the availability and utilisation of library electronic resources by undergraduate students in private Universities in Ogun state, Nigeria(2014-09) Quadri, G.; Adetimirin, A. E.; Idowu, O. A.The degree of availability and utilization of e-resources in any university library may influence the information services provision to students. The main objective of the study was to investigate the availability and utilization of e-resources by undergraduate in selected private university libraries in Ogun State, Nigeria. Descriptive survey design was adopted and study population consisted of 9700 undergraduates from Babcock and Redeemer’s universities. Simple random was used to select a sample of 291 and the questionnaire was the main instrument used for data collection. Data were analyzed using SPSS specifically descriptive statistics consisting of tables of frequency and percentage. The findings revealed that the internet was readily available in Babcock (83.5%) and Redeemer (92.8%), while other e-resources were not readily available. Most of the respondents in Babcock (64.0%) and Redeemer (89.1%) used the e-resources for assignment and research/project. Poor internet connectivity, lack of relevant e-resources in various disciplines, erratic power supply, and lack of technical know-how were the major challenges faced by the respondents. The internet and e-journals are important sources of information for both universities undergraduate students. Also, the availability and use of e-resources has no doubt contributed meaningfully to the information acquisition for class work, assignment and research needs of the students.Item Information use of software packages in Nigerian university libraries(2011) Okewale, O.; Adetimirin, A.The use of two library software in managing information in four Nigerian university libraries was investigated. The study population comprised 56 library staff and 234 undergraduates who were library users and data was collected using questionnaire and interview. Library staff in all the libraries revealed that ease of use, user friendliness, availability of system manual were the major software selection factors used. Cataloguing module was used the highest on a daily basis by the staff in all the libraries while the undergraduates used the OPAC mostly on a daily basis in University of Lagos and Covenant University (57.4% and 54.7%) respectively. Problems such as occasional system failure, erratic power supply, inadequate training facilities and network problem hindered the maximum use of the software by library staff, while inadequate orientation on their use which resulted in difficulty in its use were the problems encountered by the undergraduates. The library software have been useful to both library staff and undergraduates but training and re-training of library personnel, adequate orientation of users and provision of sufficient computer systems at OPAC section of the libraries would enhance their use.
