Item Demographic characteristics and accessibility as determinants of use of library resources by students in two Federal Colleges of Agriculture in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria(2020-07) Adekunjo, O. M.The paper examined demographic factors and accessibility as determinants of use of library resources by students of Federal College of Animal Health Production and Federal College of Agriculture and Technology, Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria. Descriptive survey research design with the aid of questionnaire was employed to elicit response from the respondents. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample size of this work. Data was analysed with the use of descriptive statistics facilitated by the Statistical Software for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Results were presented in frequencies, percentages, correlation and multiple regressions on tables. From the findings, library resources that were very readily available were indicated. The prominent challenges affecting the use of library resources as indicated by most of the respondents were highlighted. Recommendations were also made based on the findings.Item Use of ICT for securing libraries and information resources against vandalism in university libraries in the era of global insecurity(Tim-Sal & Bim Publishing Ltd., 2020) Omoike, A. D.; Ikegune., D. O.Vandalism of library and information resources is an international problem as well as a historical one that affects all type of libraries. Therefore, the use of ICT for securing libraries and information resources is inevitable. ICT is the only means of securing library resources in the era of global insecurity. Security of libraries and information resources becomes a concern for the modem well equipped libraries. The application of ICT in the library will help in providing quality services by the librarians through the Internet to users as information will be processed and communicated to users to meet their information needs without delay. The methods for securing libraries and information resources against vandalism in the era of global insecurity are through digitization of information resources, electromagnetic and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), video surveillance and closed- circuit television (CCTV) systems in the library as means to deter crime and ensure safety of information resources in the library. Meanwhile, Lack of fund, poor policies and procedures, natural disasters such as earthquake, flood, fire, storm among others serve are causes of vandalism of library materials. It was therefore, recommended that government should assist the University in providing sufficient funds to install modem security systems to prevent vandalism in the library.Item An evaluation of library resources, services and use of Kogi state university, Ayigba, library(Nigerian Library Association, Kwara State Chapter, 2013) Kutu, J. O.; Adesanya, O. O.This research evaluated the library resources, service and use of Kogi State University Library. Ayigba. The main objective of the research is to find out the varieties of learning resources available: services rendered: and how effectively they are being utilized by the students and staff The survey research design was adopted with the questionnaire serving as the main instrument for data collection. A total of one hundred and twenty (120) respondents were randomly selected from the students and staff but ninety-five of them responded. Descriptive statistical methods were used in analyzing the data generated. The finding identifies some of the problems of academic libraries to include outdated books, inadequate space, noisy environment, and lack of automation of libraries resources. Also the libraries were not adequately staffed.
