Each group comprised of 40 students i.e. the experimental group and the control group. The questionnaire instrument administration was twice, first as pre-test and later as post-test after subjects had undergone teachings on study skills and use of library resources. The study found out that over 38% of the respondents made use of some study techniques. Furthermore, 75% of students had had study skills training in school. The subjects also affirmed that study skill classes equipped them to effectively use library resources. However, environmental barriers, physical tiredness etc was found to have constituted hindrance to students not using the library resources effectively. A.; Ikhioya, P. E.; Tomomowo-Ayodele, S. O.This study investigated the research output of librarians in Agricultural Research Institutes (ARI) in Nigeria between 2003-2008 with special reference to Oyo and Edo States. A survey research design was employed and the instruments used for data collection were questionnaire and interviews. 20 out of the 22 librarians in the selected Agricultural Research Institutes completed the questionnaire, thus giving a response rate of 90.91%. Simple percentages, pie chart as well as bar charts were used for the presentation of the data collected. Some of the major findings of the study include the following: the more experienced librarians published more than their other less experienced colleagues, publication output was the least used criterion for the promotion of librarians in the Agricultural Research Institutes, and the major challenge to librarians was lack of funds to support research activities. In the light of these findings, some recommendations were proffered to enhance the research output of the librarians. Among these include: that publication should be regarded as a vital criterion for promotion of librarians; librarians should be encouraged to conduct research and publish their findings since research is the focus of their institutes; and librarians should be assisted to attract grant for their research activitiesItem The Role of Academic Library and Librarians in Enhancing Entrepreneurship in Nigeria(2019) Osamudiamen, N. E.; Omoike, A. D.There is a great need to extend library profession base on the fast growing needs of employment in the country as at today. To reduce the unemployed rate that has reached an alarming stage which is due to economic recession and constant decline in industry which would have lead to the drive of the economy of the nation at large. The present economic realities and the challenges in labour market in Nigeria as well as the increase in unemployment of our graduates also justify the need to equip undergraduates with the basic entrepreneurial skills and accurate knowledge that would enable them to be self-employed after graduation. Moreover, users of library no longer see the need to visit the library because library services are not attractive and packaged in ways that will make them visit the library. There is therefore, the need to make library services attractive; this will require that teachers or lecturers need to infuse entrepreneurial courses in their curriculums irrespective of the courses that they teaches at institutions of higher learning. The acquisition of entrepreneurial texts books both hard copies and soft copies should be available for the use of both students and academic staff. Hence library services need to engage in entrepreneurship education in academic school curriculum will greatly enhance entrepreneurial knowledge and skills which will prepare graduate students for the challenge of the labour market and make them to be self employed in the long run.
