Item Contextualizing the representation of religious fraudsters in Adekilekun's Waka (Islamic poem) "Awon ti n fesin se boju boju"(Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Ibadan, 2022) Balogun, S. I.; Habeebullahi, A. A.; Abdul-Azeez, R. A.; Badmus, M. A.; Omofoyewa, K. A.; Kareem, M. K.Fraud, an intentional deception resulting in injury unto others, has been a worrisome phenomenon that permeates all facets of human life globally. Previous studies on fraud have examined financial, economic, academic and cyber crime with little attention paid to religious fraud. This study, therefore, examines the representations of religious fraudsters in Adekilekun's Yoruba Waka (Islamic poem), from religious perspective, with emphasis on Islam and Christianity. Religious leaders are expected to be holy and righteous people who should live an ethically upright life devoid of fraudulent activities. The study used qualitative method. The Divine command theory and Virtues ethical theory have been adopted as theoretical frameworks. The study established that most of the people who paraded themselves as holy men of God were devils, liars, magicians, hypocrites and deceivers.
