Item Item Arabic language in multicultural dynamism: chronological effects on Nigeria’s heritage(David Publishing, 2014-10) Adetunji, I.Of such notice that researchers documented in their compendium about the spawn of Arabs and their language dwindled in mono-culture boundary for many memorable years. It is of the fact that the relevance of Arabic language is not only restricted to the people spoken it as their mother language. Thus, it is globally applauded due to its effective recognitions and relevancies in other cultures and all human strata. History show that the place of Arabic language in multicultural society is very applausive, especially after the emergence of Islam spread beyond its domain to other continents like Asia, Europe, Africa, America, etc. Apparently, the position of Arab language in multicultural societies especially Nigeria (has the largest African population) which has predominant ethnic groups, cultures, and are than 400 ethnic dialects, with over 1.850,000,000 population is given a warmly applausive recognization. The reason is that its entry into the country dated back to the seventh century of the Hjrah era in which Arabic had been used for religious, social, economic, and cultural purposes. Therefore, this paper is aiming to give an expository analysis of the relevance of Arabic language in multicultural society and take Nigeria as a case study.Item The role of the Arabic language in national security دور اللغة العربية في الأمن الوطني(2016) Adetunji, I.; Akano, K. R.Item Despite the great impression of the Arabs and non-Arabs writers to the art of Maqamat genre, invented by Badi’I Zaman Al-Hamadhani in the fourth century A.H., which gained a wide recognition in both Arabo-Islamic communities. The quantum values and importance added by this literary genre in to the Arabs’ literary heritage has made unique literary creative genre, which changes the status of Arabic prose writing, formulated in the form of funny stories, chosen a narrator named ‘Isa bn Hisham, and a vibrant Hero known: Abu -1- Fatih al-Iskandari. This unique style was later emulated by many Arabs’ writers by producing their own Maqamat, such as; Abu-L-Qazeem Muhammad Al- Hariri (d. 516 A.H), Zamakhshari (D.538 A.H.) Suyyuti (d. 1505 C.E). In the twenty-first century, the great gestures of Africa Arabic scholars in general, and Nigeria in particular, with this literary creativity is very impressive and applausive , with the production of different Maqamat, followed the styles of Badi’ Zaman al Hamadhani, Abu -1-Qasim al- Hariri and etc., amongst are: Dr. Abdul Bari Adetunji in his Maqamat titled : Kaswatu-L-‘Ary fi-1- Maqamat Abdul Bari, Mas’ud Abdul Ganiy Adebayo Al-Oyowiy, in his Maqamat, titled: Maqamat-1- Oyowy, Muhammad Awwal Abdul Salam popularly known as Sahibul -Qur’an Al-Ilory in his Maqamat, titled : Maqamat -Ilory, and Ahmad Tijani Yusuf Ajegunle popularly known as Riku-1 -Asifiyah in his Maqamat, titled : Maqamat Ibn Yusuf and etc. Despite the multiplicity of the studies contained in Al-Ilory’s Maqamat, the rhetorical features have not been studied, which has created a gap to fill by the researcher. Therefore, this research aims to study the rhetorical features in the Al-Ilory’s Maqamat. But, before delving in to the main discussion, the concept of Maqamat, its characteristics and elements would be discussed. Then a historical background of the author of Al-Ilory’s Maqamat would also be discussed.(Nigerian Association of Teachers of Arabic & Islamic Studies (NATAIS) Lagos State Branch, 2025-01) Adetunji, I.Love, in Arabic term denotes hubb, iskiq, gariimah, wudd and hawaa. It semantically has more than thirty Arabic words denoting the same meaning.1 It has been a symbolic Interactive expression of feeling that has possessed quantum significance and values over the passage of time in both animate and inanimate beings. Extant research works on love poetry have been carried out by researchers on its quantum purposes and effects in the socio-cultural, anthropological physiological, psychological, religious and socio-linguistic and literary arena, in both Arabic and western literary works. However, there has been sparse attention on the exploration of the love theory and love poetry in Arabic Sufi literature, which has created the gaps to be filled by this research. Therefore, this paper aims to explore the love theory in the love poetry of Arabic Sufi literature, using Al- Shushturi Sufi’s Ecstasy as a paradigm. Before delving into the main discussion, the contrastive discourse between the concept of love theory and love poetry would be examined. Likewise, the concept of Sufism and ecstasy shall be discussed. Arabic narrative poetry has not been favourably received the great attentions of Nigerian Arabic scholars like other genres. Therefore, Al-Khalijat Wanabdat of Ibrahim Sa’id Ahmad Gambari is to be examined by looking at the concept of Arabic Narrative Poetry and its rationale in Arabic literary heritage. It is of no doubt that the genesis of Arabic Literature in Nigeria is traced to the time Arabic studies began in the 9th Century C.E, because it led to the time Islam got to Nigeria, Albelt, going along with Islamic and Arabic Education. Since then, Arabic Nigerian Authorships have worked tremendously to promote the Status of Arabic Literature in everyday through their intellectual prowess by producing many works of note in the field of Arabic Literature. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the Status of Arabic literature of Nigerian authorship in the twenty-first Century and bring into limelight their immense contribution to the sustainability of Arabic literature in Nigeria. Before delving in to the main work , the paper would give a cursory look into general over-view on the concept of Arabic literature in human literary heritage, Likewise, the genesis of Arabic literature in Nigeria, dichotomy in the periods of Arabic literature in Nigeria, Status of Arabic literature of Nigerian authorship in the past and compare it with the present and proffer a suitable prospects in the future would be discussed.Item Multiculturalism and social development of Africa and Africans in diaspora in selected arabic literature(Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, 2014-03) Adetunji, B.; Adesida, A. A.; Adetunji, I.This study intends to investigate multiculturalism as it affects social development of Africa and Africans in Diaspora. It examines the social Problems that hinder the development of Africa as a continent as manifested in selected literary works of four African writers in the field of Arabic literature. The poems of Haflz Ibrahim (1871-1932), a modern poet of Egypt, which addresses social injustice meted out to the African people; Khalll Matran (1872-1948), an Egyptian in diaspora; Ibrahim Najl (1809- 1935). another Egyptian poet, and Abu ‘L-Qasim al-Shabbl (1903-1934), from Tunisia, call for this understudy research. The study identifies social issues that concern Africa and the Africans in diaspora. It explores how multiculturalism would enhance development of Africa and it also proffers Solutions to the identified social obstacles to the development of Africa. It concludes by specifying the multicultural models that would enhance the development of Africa and Africans in diaspora and States that Africa’s development can be maximized with multiculturalism that portrays the uniqueness of the continent and its people in diaspora.Item Combating in the threshold of emancipation: the myriad role of arab women writers to women's emancipation in the 19™ and 20™ centuries(2011) Adetunji, I.Towards the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the clamor for women's emancipation in Arab world had been a francophone overwhelmed the global world. The emergence of feminism and women's right activities in combating for women's right has co-existed with different government and Islamism. The feminists and women activists work tremendously toward liberation from the oppression to promote equitable relations between men and women. The overall goal is to establish equity within the gender without any discrimination within the family, before the law, in political participation, in the work place, in education, and public sphere. In their attempt to push their cause forward, feminists and women's rights activists adopted different Umbrellas under which they placed women's issues. The elites and educated amidst Arab women stood up to put an end to all challenges facing Arab women in Arabian peninsula like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon , and etc. they began to speak and forward their ordeals to different publicizing materials like newspapers, pamphlets, memos, journals and etc. and many literary movements were established as a key to liberating the 'collective consciousness' from the traditional norms that had stunted their progress. Therefore, this paper is aiming to examine the combating efforts of Arab women writers and their myriad roles towards women's liberation in nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Interestingly, this paper enunciated the Status of Arab women in pre and post modernism, and the effects of literary salons and societies in the work of Arab women writers in 19th and 20lh centuries would be elucidated for literary discourse.
